Union Square Green Market Compost Stand

This site is operated by the Lower East Side Ecology Center, and allows the public to drop-off kitchen scraps. The collected materials are transported to East River Park and processed in an in-vessel composting system. After three months the finished compost makes its way back to the market, where it is sold either as compost or as part of a potting soil mix.
