City Recycling handles mixed demolition and construction debris.  According to their Annual Report, in 2006 they illegally exceeded their permitted daily throughput of 1,500 tons per day by an average of almost 600 tons per day.

In 2006 Milton Rocano, a City Recycling employee, was crushed to death by a load of debris while working in the back of an open-top tractor-trailer that was being loaded for export.^[1]   His body was discovered two days later at a landfill in Melville, NY.
