New Style Recycling is permitted to handle both putrescible solid waste and construction and demolition debris.

In 2003 an explosion at New Style Recycling collapsed the roof and critically injured Segundo Orellana, a New Style Recycling employee.[1]  The explosion was triggered when Orellana switched on the lights upon entering the building for the start of his early morning shift, thereby igniting the accumulated butane and isopropane that had leaked from approximately 500 Demert Nail Enamel Dryer spray cans (a product sprayed on nails to dry nail polish) that had been compacted during pick-up and dumped on the tipping room floor.  The explosion would likely have been avoided had New Style Recycling been operating their ventilation fans as required by law.[2]
