Mission: committed to making a positive difference in the lives of young people, focusing on prevention, primarily through professionally supported one-to-one relationships with volunteers, enriching their lives and our community.
Site- and school-based mentoring programs.
BBBS matches children 7-14 with adult mentors or match younger children with teen mentors through site-based mentoring in the elementary schools. The program for teen mentors takes place at elementary schools during after-school hours for a set time once a week. All Portland and South Portland schools participate; high school mentors receive training and go through an application process. In some cases, teen mentors get credit or fulfill community service requirements.
