Mission:  Dedicated to providing a positive youth voice in order to articulate the issues and concerns of young people in Portland. The Youth Advisory Council works closely with the City Council to achieve youth and community-related goals.

Nineteen youth serve on the Youth Advisory Council: 14 members (one underclassman and one upperclassman from each of the six high schools, and two students from LearningWorks) are elected by their peers to serve on the Council. Five members are appointed through an interview and application process by a Youth Council subcommittee with recommendations from our community partners, cultural organizations, and City leaders.
