Mission: The Schoodic International Sculpture Symposium is an ambitious artist and residency program that gives artists the chance to focus on a single piece of public art created in stone. The six-week symposium provides an artist stipend, materials, technical support, and communal working space open to the public. The finished works are part of a collection that spreads throughout the region.
For Youth: Schoodic International Sculpture Symposium provides opportunities for visitors, families, and students to experience the world of public art. Visitors can watch international artists create monumental sculptures from Maine granite, and attend workshops, lectures, and events during the duration of the 6-week symposium. The symposium is FREE and open to the public.
