This site is the location of a former gas holder station. It is located on the west side of York Avenue, form East 61st to East 63rd Street. The holder station operated between ca. 1874 and 1948. The site is pesently occupied by apartment buildings, the Mount Vernon Museum, and two commercial buildings. A Site Characterization was partially completed in 2005. The remainder of the SC should be completed by April of 2009, once access to a portion of the site is obtained.
