The site is located on Centre Street in lower Manhattan and is currently occupied by the New York County Courthouse. Two gas holders were constructed in 1827 and were sold prior to 1865. Site Characterization field work will commence on January 12, 2008 and continue through February 2008. Site Characterization report was submitted in June 2008 and approved in July 2008. The SC report indicates that it does not appear that the site is impacted by contamination resulting from the former MGP operations. A letter of No Further Action was issued July 24, 2008 and a Project Completion and Recommendation to Issue Release was submitted to the OGC.

The Site Characterization identified no environmental impacts from the former MGP operations.

No evidence of manufactured gas plant waste material was found at the site, therefore, no exposure to manufactured gas plant waste is expected.
